David Shields

David Shields is a four-time entrant in the SmittyBilt Everyman Challenge. He is driving a 2006 Jeep LJ. The vehicles chassis has been completely reengineered and rebuilt in 2016 at Bunderson Racing. The vehicle has PCI Race Radios communication system with Bluetooth and digital voice noise reduction; front and rear 10-inch 5.83:1 GearWorks high pinion third members with front Gearworks locker and rear competition ARB; Gearworks TH400 with Reid case, GearWorks/Coan torque converter; Wiks Racing Engineers 416 cubic inch LS with 600 hp and 586 ft-lb torque. King 2.5-inch coilovers and 2.5-inch 5-tube bypass shocks; Harmon fuel cell; Shields has been into Jeeps since he was three years old. In addition to the LJ he is the original owner of a Silver Anniversary Edition 1979 CJ-5 and a 1988 Jeep YJ. His co-driver is Randy Shields a two-time MDR champion in the 1400 Pro Class. His race team is composed of members of GFO Racing. His sponsors include Road-N-Truck in Thousand Oaks, CA, PCI Race Radios, GearWorks, Wiks Racing Engines and of course himself and his wife, Linda. He is a professor of civil engineering and a professional engineer.
